Arctic and alpine ecosystems are experiencing greater climate change than many other regions, and some of the greatest changes are occurring in winter.
WinterNet is a virtual network established to facilitate communication between researchers interested in the impacts of winter change on Arctic and alpine ecosystems, plant and soil responses, and consequences for biogeochemical cycling.
The drivers of change we study include the ecological impacts of changes in winter and shoulder seasons (spring and autumn), consequences of warming as gradual trend change and extreme warming events, impacts of changes in winter snow and ice conditions, and effects of snow melt timing and snow accumulation.
